Animal Crossing Buried Treasure and Vegetation
Digging Up Buried Treasure
Feeling like a pirate today? Grab a shovel matey and start hunting for buried treasure around your town. Small stars mark the spots where something is buried. Purchase a shovel from Nook’s Cranny and use it to uncover fossils, Gyroids and all sorts of surprises. You can also use the shovel to bury your own items in the ground or to plant a tree.
Fossils
When you first find a fossil, it looks like a blue disc. Once you have it appraised, however, you can sell it to Tom Nook or donate it to the museum.
Gyroids
Like fossils, you will find Gyroids only buried underground. You can display the unique animated items in your home or sell them to Tom Nook.
Get the Golden Shovel
The golden shovel is a real money-maker – you can use it to bury money bags and grow money trees! The larger the sum of money you inter, the greater the chance the money tree will bear fruit. It is pretty easy to get the golden shovel – just bury a shovel in the ground and leave it there for a full day (but make sure you have a second shovel so you can dig it up). A money tree will take about a week to reach maturity.
Planting Vegetation
Have a green thumb? With the right tools and a little planning, you can turn your town into a plant-lover’s paradise. Just purchase some seeds or saplings from Tom Nook and plant them wherever you like. Try to put a little thought into the visual presentation, keeping paths open when planting trees and flowers – you want vegetation to accent your town, not take it over.
Planting Regular Trees
There are two types of tree saplings available at Tom Nook’s store – regular and cedar. If you see a brown spot on the ground, plant a sapling to add some green to your town. Don’t plant too many, though, or it will impede foot traffic.
Planting Fruit Trees
Harvesting fruit is a great way to make a living in Animal Crossing, and the more fruit trees you have, the more money you can make. Pick some fruit from one of the existing fruit trees in your town, bury it in the soil, and wait for a tiny fruit-tree sapling to sprout. In a few days, your tree will mature and bear fruit.
Planting Flowers
Planting flowers is a great way to attract valuable bugs and improve your town’s popularity – plus they just look nice! You can buy seeds at Tom Nook’s or dig up wild flowers from around town and replant them in a new spot. They will bloom year-round with the proper care. With a little experimentation it is also possible to cross-fertilise flowers to create new colours.
What’s This? A Coconut?
Occasionally a coconut will make its way from a tropical island onto your beach. Collect the coconut and bury it in the ground along the beach to grow your own coconut palm. You can start an orchard and sell the fruit to Tom Nook.
